Chester-le-Street occurs as market town within County Durham, England with a history running back to Roman days. A town is placed Octad miles west of Sunderland on the River Wear. A Parish Church of St Mary & St Cuthbert is in which a body of St Cuthbert was laid to rest for a few 113 years prior to existence transferred to Durham Cathedral, and is the places of the foremost translation of the Bible into English. A town is the seat of the Chester-le-Street district.

A Riverside Ground at Chester-le-Street is home to Durham County Cricket Club which became a number 1 class county inside 1992. A ground is likewise utilized for Test cricket. A Riverside Ground is overlooked by Lumley Castle an impressive fortified manse, which is presently utilized as a hotel, and has the links course.

Older football version
An old version of Football was once played in the town. A game was played until 1932 between a "Upstreeters" & "Downstreeters". Play began at 1pm & finished at 6pm. To begin a game, a ball was thrown from either a Queen's Head hotel within the centre of the town & in of these bet on further than 400 players participate. A centre of wall street was a dividing line & a winner was a side in which a ball was (Higher or even Down) at 6pm. a game was eventually stopped around 1932, once a total of players were fined under a Main road Work for obstructing the main road & stimulating an annoyance to footer!
